So it's Valentines Day. Cool.
V-day has always been a learning experience for me. Always. Boys broke up with me right before Valentines Day. I would find out that someone was leading me on on Valentines Day. Fantastic, right? Actually, yes. I learned a lot from those experiences. In the moment it hurt like nothing else, but looking back I'm thankful. I've learned what I deserve. I've learned that I don't need a man's love to make me feel valuable. It's been a journey of learning not just how to love well but learning what love really is.
It's a day of love. But who said that only means loving that one special person in your life? To whoever's reading this, single or taken, complicated or not, make Valentines Day a day of loving well. Loving yourself well, loving the people around you well, and to whom it applies, loving your significant other well. Tell someone they look beautiful. Offer to help that lady across the street carry in her groceries. Buy lunch for that couple sitting next to you in the restaurant. Dedicate today to loving well. No matter your relationship status, you are able to choose love, not just today, but every day. Make the choice to show the people around you that they matter.
It's not always easy. Maybe that person standing next to you in line is having a super bad day and cussed you out. Pay for their items. Love was never intended to be easy. It's a risk and it's a challenge. But all it could take is you stepping out in love for someone's entire day to change.
And loving yourself is just as important. Show yourself some love today. Take a hot bath with candles and bath bombs while eating chocolate strawberries. Binge on your favorite show on Netflix. Write kind words to yourself on sticky notes and put them on your mirror. Make today your day. Make today a day of loving well.
