So I'm watching The Office as I'm writing this which is why it's taking me hours to finish this post...sorry not sorry. But let's get this started!
For those of you who don't know I loooovvveee interior design, so I'm trying out this new series of posts where I do an interior design mood board each month based on the colors, textures, trends, etc that are inspiring me.
First off, velvet accents.
I'm actually quite obsessed with velvet at the moment. My record player is a deep teal velvet and it's one of my favorite things. Velvet is woven on a special loom that weaves two thicknesses of the material at the same time (which I learned from wikipedia lol). The unique texture adds richness, color, and coziness to a room. It's one of those things that pulls it all together. Plus, it's soft and who doesn't want that?
Next, a mirror against the wall.
So this could give off one of two vibes: either you're extremely artsy and decided to put a mirror against the wall to add style to a room, or you were too lazy to actually hang it on the wall... I think mine is a mixture of both (mirrors are heavy, ok?).
Initially, though, it is supposed to be more artsy than anything else. It's almost as if the mirror is not an accent anymore, it's the main focus of the room. Mirrors extend a room's size giving the illusion that it's larger or taller than it is. When the mirror becomes the focal point, the room becomes more comfortable, leading people to believe they are in a larger room than they actually are. Putting one up against the wall is unique without looking messy.
Another one, large knitted blankets.
You guys this looks so cozy I can't handle it. All the heart eyed emojis.
I love this one simply because it's soft, comfortable, and honestly the texture adds so much depth to a room. You could have the most minimalistic, simple space ever, add one of these stunning blankets in a well-contrasted color and boom. You have a completed space. Throws and blankets are some of my favorite accents (and yes my obsession with naps may have something to do with that) because it warms up a room and makes it extremely inviting.
Fourth inspo, gold.
Gold is becoming more popular and I'm loving it. Gold + marble. Gold + velvet. Gold + white. All the feels.
Not everyone is into the gold, but I am not one of those people. Gold adds a sense of royalty and sophistication which I absolutely love. It's elegant, classy, and when combined with the right color scheme can be extremely tasteful.
Last but definitely not least, white paint.
And would you look at that, gold + white + the mirror against the wall. Yes white paint is simple. But that's the beauty of it. I enjoy the simple colors so that I can spend more of my time decorating (side note can we just look at how stunning the molding is??). If you're unsure about paint, white is always a great go to. It's a simplistic kind of gorgeous that never goes out of style.
I'm currently in the process of redoing my bedroom and I can't wait to show you all! It'll be containing most of the components on this mood board. I hope you enjoyed all these stunning interior design trends. Let me know in the comments what you want to see more of!
